In 1977, Mark was recruited to play in Derringer with Rick Derringer. Derringer toured the US and Canada 1977/78 as a headliner and opening act for Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Peter Frampton, Alice Cooper, Steve Miller, Foreigner, Heart, Kansas, Styx, J. Geils Band and The Cars. In addition to touring, Mark also played guitar and sang background vocals on "If I Weren't So Romantic I'd Shoot You", Columbia/Blue Sky."Rick is great; he is one of the best guitarists I have ever seen, Kenny is an incredible bassist and Myron was always right on the money, none better in my book. All are great guys as well; we had a lot of fun playing together. Our live show was what we lived for, each show an opportunity to push the limits to a new high, to out do what we did the night before. And as far as guitarists are concerned, Rick is a musician's musician, impressive on so many levels. He plays any style of guitar well. Rock, blues, jazz, country, whatever style he's playing at the time, he plays it as if it was his main style of guitar and he makes it look effortless. He deserves so much more recognition. He is the consummate professional. People of his caliber, are pivotal to ones life and career. I will always be grateful to Rick for the generosity he has shown me both on and off the stage and for the opportunity he afforded me; he is the best..." |
